BEIJING, Oct. 14 (China Space News) — The chief designer of China’s manned spaceship, Zhang Bainan, has been named Outstanding Talent of the fourth Defence Science & Technology Industry Award.

He received the honor with four other top scientists.

This biennial award was set up to recognize the experts, scholars, and professionals who have made outstanding contributions in defense science study and technology development. 

Zhang is from the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

The Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering jointly announced the winners.
