China's Self-developed Mars Probe Put on Show

BEIJING, Nov. 13 (China Space News) — The 17th China International Industry Fair opened on Nov. 3 in Shanghai. A model of China's Martian probe, which is a third of its real size, has been given pride of place at China's Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.'s exhibition stand.
Niu Shengda, a satellite expert from Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, explained that the probe consists of two parts: an orbiter and a lander.
After years of hard work, CASC has made many breakthroughs in key technologies for Mars exploration. According to the plan, the probe will be launched in 2020.
