SAST Commemorates 50th Anniversary

BEIJING, Aug. 8. (China Space News) — Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), one of the 8 large R&D and production complexes of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, celebrated its 50th anniversary this week.
SAST has one "aerospace city" and three industrial parks in Shanghai and a total of five industrial bases nationally. It has also established a 10-billion-yuan photovoltaic industrial chain, mainly located in Shanghai, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Jiangsu Province.
SAST has achieved much over the past 50 years. It has developed over 20 types of weapons, been involved in 50 successful launch missions, and delivered 25 satellites in orbit to customer. In particular, SAST's participation in China's Manned Space Project and the Lunar Exploration Program has greatly supported China's aerospace endeavors.
