UPDATED: 2011-05-16
BEIJING, May 16 (China Space News) — China's second ocean satellite HY-1B, launched on April 11, 2007, has been operating stably for four years, one year longer than its designed lifespan.
Carefully protected by China Spacesat Co., Ltd., HY-1B has been playing a significant role in such fields as the detection of sea surface temperature change, development and utilization of marine bio-resources, marine pollution monitoring and control, and research of global environment changes.
At present, all the sub-systems of the satellite are operating properly with normal telemetry parameters. HY-1B is expected to continue to serve the development of China's marine remote sensing.
