China Looking to Public to Name Space Station

BEIJING, Apr. 26 (China Space News) — A launching ceremony for soliciting names of China's manned space station was held on April 25 at the Great Hall of the People.
Organized by China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO) and co-sponsored by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), this event involves collecting names and logos from the public for the China Manned Space Engineering Program and its first manned space station, as well as names for the core module and two experiment modules of the space station and a cargo spacecraft.
Wang Wenbo, head of China Manned Space Engineering Office, Yang Liwei, deputy director of China Manned Space Engineering Office, Sun Weigang, chief engineer of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and five Chinese astronauts who have been on the Shenzhou 6 and 7 missions, all attended the ceremony.
According to China Manned Space Engineering Office, submissions for the names and logos should be handed in between April 25 and July 25, while names for the cargo spacecraft should be provided between April 25 and May 20.
Contributors can submit their suggestions via the websites: www.cemse.gov.cn, www. spacechina.com, and www.qq.com, or by email or standard mail.
The expert review committee will select 30 suggestions for each category to be presented to the public for a final voting.The winning suggestions will be unveiled by the end of September. Among them, the cargo spacecraft name will be announced at the end of June.
