BEIJING, August 24 (China Space News) -- Three satellites were sent into planned orbit by Jielong-1, or Smart Dragon-1 (SD-1), China's first rocket for commercial space missions, which was launched on Saturday at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

The major payload in Saturday's mission, Qiansheng 01A, is a 65-kg satellite made by the Beijing Qiansheng Exploration Technology.

It can provide three services of remote sensing, communications and navigation, and is expected to be widely used in areas of national defense, forestry, agriculture and maritime exploration.

Furthermore, the two-meter-resolution camera carried on the satellite can capture high-definition images at high speeds.

Another two satellites – Tianqi-2 and Xingshidai-5 – were also sent into space this time.
