Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, conferred the July 1 Medal, the Party's highest honor, on a group of model CPC members at a grand ceremony in Beijing on Tuesday, in the run-up to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC on July 1.

A total of 29 CPC members who have made outstanding contributions to the Party and the people received the honor, some posthumously.

Lu Yuanjiu, a consultant for the Science and Technology Committee of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, was awarded the July 1 Medal.
