The Shenzhou-15 crew members aboard China's space station Tiangong are making full-scale preparation for accommodating the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft scheduled to arrive in the first half of May.
The crew members have made steady progress in various scientific experiments and space station maintenance work since they entered orbit on Nov. 30, 2022.
Monday makes completion of the fifth month of stay in orbit by the Shenzhou-15 trio Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming and Zhang Lu. In the past five months, they have fulfilled tasks of maintaining and repairing the space station with support from the ground staff.
The crew members are currently busy with the maintenance work of environmental control and life support systems onboard the space station and continuing with different space experiments, according to the given plan.
The trio are also doing physical training and other activities according to their own conditions, on a relatively relaxed schedule during the Labor Day holiday.
The Shenzhou-15 crew is sorting out the remaining supplies brought by the Tianzhou-5 cargo spacecraft last year. Some consumables will be placed inside the spacecraft and will be burnt up together with the spacecraft during its descent toward the Earth.
The Tianzhou-5 is about to detach from the space station to leave the docking hatch open for the Tianzhou-6, which is now already at the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center in south China's Hainan Province for last preparation for launch.
