China's first commercial space launch site under construction in the tropical province of Hainan completed the construction of its first launch complex on Thursday.
Located at the Wenchang International Aerospace City, the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site is designed to have two launch complexes. The construction of the Launch Complex 1, also the leading project, started in July last year.
On Thursday, a project capping ceremony for a 10-storey fixed service tower, the main part of the Launch Complex 1, was held on the construction site, marking the completion of the first complex.
According to the plan, the construction phase will be completed by the end of the year and be followed by the phase of equipment installation.
Next, eqipment production, gas injection of the Launch Complex 1, and the construction of the main road of the launch area, a substation and the Launch Complex 2 will be carried out simultaneously.
