China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has become a new driver for economic and social development as its application scale continuously expand over the years.
Official data showed that BeiDou has achieved a dominant position in domestic mapping and navigation apps, with its high-precision positioning service being used more than 360 billion times every day.
The BeiDou navigation system has become a standard feature of new smart phones released in China this year, and the system is now compatible with more than 300 models of mobile phones.
Meanwhile, the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is gaining traction among global consumers, with the technology and its applications having stood the test of time.
Last month, the International Civil Aviation Organization of the United Nations officially recognized the BDS as a global standard. BeiDou has become one of four global satellite navigation systems recognized by the UN, along with the United States' GPS, Russia's GLONASS and the European Union's Galileo.
China also plans to expand the application of BeiDou to emerging areas such as industrial internet, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), while continuing to use the technology to empower the transformation of traditional industries.
