BEIJING, Nov. 15 (China Space News) — Tests on the Gaofen-2 satellite and its carrier rocket, the Long March-4B, have been completed and the satellite has entered the launch stage, according to a Gaofen Major Project meeting.
The satellite is now at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. It will likely be sent into space some time next month with a Polish piggyback satellite BRITE-PL.
The Gaofen-2 satellite was developed by China Academy of Space Technology and the Long March-4B rocket was developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.
Gaofen-2 is the second satellite of the high-definition earth observation system (HDEOS). The major users of the satellite will be the Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Transport and State Forestry Administration.
